Math
In math we are learning about time. Students are getting to know the clock and what time it is. We have been learning what the short hand and the long hand means.
What you can do at home:
Ask your kid what time it is. Ask them to time you doing something at home using a clock.

Language Arts (Reading and writing)
Writing
We are continuing to practice our writing. We are greatly focusing on being more specific with our details, connecting our sentences so it flows when we read it and also making sure we have the correct punctuations.
What you can do at home:
Remind your child that after a period (.) the sentence always starts with a capital. Make sure they are adding periods, and commas (,) when they are writing. As well remind them how connecting words, such as: after, first, suddenly, also, then, when, as...etc. can help sentences connect and flow better.
Help your child to continue to write their first, second, and third paragraphs. Make sure they are adding lots of details and their story flows nicely. The more practice your child gets at writing the better writer they will be.
Reading
We continue to review all of our reading strategies we have done this year. Students are working on review packages.
What you can do at home:
Have conversations with your child when reading. Make sure to ask them questions about character, setting, and what's going on throughout the story.

Religion
Every time during religion, we gather as a class in a great big circle and we talk about how important the Lord is to us. We talk about trust, love, and respect and how that is important in our life. As a class and a school our faith will continue to grow strong as we gather together during mass, religion, recess, lunch, and all subjects. Religion is taught everyday to show children that Christ is always with us.
Learning about God with your child:
Ask your child what does bucket dipping mean and how they can avoid dipping other people's buckets.
Science
In science we are learning about life cycles. Your child has a little creature, the mealworm, which they are caring for. Students get to see and learn about the different stages a mealworm goes through in their life time.
What you can do at home:
Ask your child how many stages of life the mealworm has to go through?

Health
In heath we have explored how to keep your teeth healthy by eating the right foods and brushing them 3 times a day. We will now be talking more about what are some things we can do in our lives to keep us being fit, active, and eating the right foods .
Art
Students will be learning how to express their emotions by drawing and painting. They will learn how to convey their personalities through their art work. Recently, we have expressed our visual representation of what heaven looks like on paper. Students are invited to share their art work with their class as it helps them build confidence and self esteem.
Social studies
In social studies we have been exploring communities around the world. Students will learn about children who live in different areas in the world and how they differ to our community. We are currently learning about Peru's culture and their way of living.
Try this at home:
Discuss with your child different areas in the world that are different to Canada, such as Peru. Ask your child, what type of language they may speak, food they eat, what is the weather like there, etc.
